Sarah Palin, Donald Trump attend Billy Graham’s 95th birthday party

Rupert Murdoch, Donald Trump and Sarah Palin were among the conservative heavyweights who flocked to North Carolina on Thursday to toast Billy Graham on the preacher’s 95th birthday.

Nearly 1,000 guests packed the Grand Ballroom at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, near Graham’s home in Montreat, to celebrate the spiritual leader, who has preached to millions throughout his lifetime.

Rick Warren, Greta Van Susteren, Kathie Lee Gifford and Glenn Beck were also among the A-list partygoers. Though Bill Clinton was rumored to be stopping in, the former President wasn’t in attendance.

The event managed to be very much a family affair despite the heavy presence of prominent Christian and media personalities.

Graham’s eldest son, Franklin, served as the emcee for the event, and Graham’s grandson Edward, a U.S. Army ranger, wheeled his grandfather into the grand ballroom at the Omni Grove Park Inn.

During the dinner, guests heard speeches from Graham’s ardent admirers, including Palin, and indulged in decadent red velvet and black forest chocolate cupcakes, the Asheville Citizen-Times reported.
